There is still a lack of suf\u00adfi\u00adciently effec\u00adtive ther\u00ada\u00adpies for a num\u00adber of seri\u00adous dis\u00adeases. How\u00adever, a large num\u00adber of small com\u00adpa\u00adnies and research groups at uni\u00adver\u00adsi\u00adties are already work\u00ading on new, bet\u00adter active sub\u00adstances for such dis\u00adeases. In recent years, the focus has often been on mol\u00ade\u00adc\u00adu\u00adlar biol\u00adogy, DNA- and RNA-based active sub\u00adstances, but also on the recently devel\u00adoped \u201cgene scis\u00adsors\u201d.
