The lat\u00adest spin-off at the Fraun\u00adhofer Insti\u00adtute for Applied Optics and Pre\u00adci\u00adsion Engi\u00adneer\u00ading IOF devel\u00adops quan\u00adtum-based solu\u00adtions for state-of-the-art com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion sys\u00adtems. Now the found\u00ading team has gath\u00adered the nec\u00ades\u00adsary investors behind them and is work\u00ading on build\u00ading up the start-up in the heart of Germany.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dig\u00adi\u00adtal infor\u00adma\u00adtion and com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtion are inte\u00adgral parts of every\u00adday life and ele\u00admen\u00adtary for soci\u00adety and the econ\u00adomy. Com\u00adput\u00aders, opti\u00adcal fiber net\u00adworks and satel\u00adlite links now con\u00adnect entire con\u00adti\u00adnents and form the basis of the global com\u00admu\u00adni\u00adca\u00adtions infra\u00adstruc\u00adture. Today, the secu\u00adrity and sov\u00ader\u00adeignty of data is secured by com\u00adplex math\u00ade\u00admat\u00adi\u00adcal algo\u00adrithms and cryp\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adphy solu\u00adtions. With the highly dynamic devel\u00adop\u00adment of quan\u00adtum com\u00adput\u00ading, com\u00adpletely new types of com\u00adput\u00ading power are becom\u00ading pos\u00adsi\u00adble, pos\u00ading a threat to clas\u00adsi\u00adcal encryp\u00adtion methods.<\/p>\n

Quan\u00adtum physics also pro\u00advides the answer to this chal\u00adlenge: Based on phys\u00adi\u00adcal laws, quan\u00adtum optics enables com\u00adpletely new con\u00adcepts for gen\u00ader\u00adat\u00ading encryp\u00adtion meth\u00adods and the phys\u00adi\u00adcally secure trans\u00admis\u00adsion of infor\u00adma\u00adtion. Here, the secure key for the encryp\u00adtion and exchange of infor\u00adma\u00adtion is per\u00adformed by quan\u00adtum phys\u00adi\u00adcal meth\u00adods. This quan\u00adtum key dis\u00adtri\u00adb\u00adu\u00adtion (QKD) enables the phys\u00adi\u00adcally mea\u00adsur\u00adable secure exchange of information.<\/p>\n

Know-how from the Fraunhofer IOF<\/h2>\n

The investors of \u00bbQuan\u00adtum Optics Jena\u00ab are con\u00advinced of the idea: The tri\u00adumvi\u00adrate of ELAS Tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies GmbH, Fraun\u00adhofer Tech\u00adnolo\u00adgie-Trans\u00adfer Fonds GmbH and beteili\u00adgungs\u00adman\u00adge\u00adment Th\u00fcrin\u00adgen (bm|t) believes in the future of quan\u00adtum tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies and invests a seven-digit amount in \u00bbQuan\u00adtum Optics Jena GmbH\u00ab. \u00bbWe are pleased to have put together an out\u00adstand\u00ading team of investors for Quan\u00adtum Optics Jena in recent weeks. First products in preparation<\/h2>\n

Dr. Oliver de Vries elab\u00ado\u00adrates: \u00bbIn the next step we will be able to pro\u00advide our cus\u00adtomers with com\u00adplete QKD sys\u00adtems to counter cyber\u00adat\u00adtacks and the threat of quan\u00adtum com\u00adput\u00ading\u00ab. But that\u2019s not all: The QOJ team con\u00adtin\u00adues to work closely with Fraun\u00adhofer IOF and is

Fraunhofer IOF<\/h3>\n

The Fraun\u00adhofer Insti\u00adtute for Applied Optics and Pre\u00adci\u00adsion Engi\u00adneer\u00ading IOF, based in Jena, Ger\u00admany, con\u00adducts research into the fur\u00adther devel\u00adop\u00adment of light as a means of solv\u00ading a wide vari\u00adety of prob\u00adlems and appli\u00adca\u00adtion sce\u00adnar\u00adios. The work of the research insti\u00adtute, founded in 1992, there\u00adfore focuses on appli\u00adca\u00adtion-ori\u00adented research into light gen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion, light guid\u00adance and light mea\u00adsure\u00adment. Together with researchers from basic research and indus\u00adtry, inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive solu\u00adtions are cre\u00adated that rep\u00adre\u00adsent a tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal advan\u00adtage in sci\u00adence and indus\u00adtry and open up new fields of appli\u00adca\u00adtion for photonics.<\/p>\n

Beteiligungsmangement Th\u00fcringen (bm|t)<\/h3>\n

Erfurt-based, bm|t beteili\u00adgungs\u00adman\u00adage\u00adment Th\u00fcrin\u00adgen (bm|t) \u2013 a sub\u00adsidiary of the Th\u00fcrin\u00adgen Devel\u00adop\u00adment Bank, is the first address for Ven\u00adture Cap\u00adi\u00adtal and Pri\u00advate Equity invest\u00adments in Th\u00fcrin\u00adgen, Ger\u00admany. bm|t cur\u00adrently man\u00adages ten invest\u00adment funds with a total vol\u00adume of 440M EUR. bm|t invests in inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive com\u00adpa\u00adnies with strong growth poten\u00adtial across all sec\u00adtors and all phases of the cor\u00adpo\u00adrate lifecycle.<\/p>\n

Fraunhofer Technologie-Transfer Fonds (FTTF) GmbH<\/h3>\n

The Fraun\u00adhofer Tech\u00adnol\u00adogy Trans\u00adfer Fund (FTTF) is a ven\u00adture cap\u00adi\u00adtal fund with a vol\u00adume of 60 mil\u00adlion euros that pro\u00advides start-ups with Fraun\u00adhofer tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies with cap\u00adi\u00adtal of 250,000 to 5 mil\u00adlion euros in the chal\u00adleng\u00ading early phases. Sup\u00adported by the Euro\u00adpean Invest\u00adment Fund (EIF) and the Fraun\u00adhofer- Gesellschaft, the FTTF stands by found\u00ading teams as an entre\u00adpre\u00adneur\u00adial partner.<\/p>\n

ELAS Technologies GmbH<\/h3>\n

ELAS Tech\u00adnol\u00adogy Invest\u00adment GmbH (ELAS) is a Ger\u00adman-based but glob\u00adally ori\u00adented finan\u00adcial investor, with Head\u00adquar\u00adters in Achim in the north of Ger\u00admany.
