PERCEPTEC GmbH was founded in Jena in May 2024 and is a MedTech startup that dri\u00adves dig\u00adi\u00adtal\u00adiza\u00adtion and automa\u00adtion in the oph\u00adthalmic and oph\u00adthal\u00admo\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal indus\u00adtry. The focus is on the dis\u00adrup\u00adtive redesign of a vir\u00adtual eye test that com\u00adbines an intu\u00aditive test pro\u00adce\u00addure with advanced 3D dis\u00adplay tech\u00adnol\u00adogy \u2014 with the aim of improv\u00ading the effi\u00adciency and acces\u00adsi\u00adbil\u00adity of eye diag\u00adnos\u00adtics world\u00adwide. Accord\u00ading to the WHO, only 36% of the world\u2019s 2.2 bil\u00adlion peo\u00adple with visual impair\u00adment have suit\u00adable access to appro\u00adpri\u00adate diag\u00adnos\u00adtics and care \u2014 a huge med\u00adical care deficit with far-reach\u00ading social consequences. <\/p>\n
The con\u00adven\u00adtional eye test has hardly seen any inno\u00adva\u00adtion for over 100 years. Not only is it immo\u00adbile and space-con\u00adsum\u00ading, it is also time-con\u00adsum\u00ading and equip\u00adment- and per\u00adson\u00adnel-inten\u00adsive. This is pre\u00adcisely where PERCEPTEC comes in: The inter\u00adnal devel\u00adop\u00adment of an auto\u00admated, intu\u00aditively applic\u00ada\u00adble test pro\u00adce\u00addure \u2014 visu\u00adal\u00adized by vision\u00adary 3D dis\u00adplay tech\u00adnol\u00adogy from coop\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion part\u00adners \u2014 enables a vir\u00adtual eye test that can be car\u00adried out inde\u00adpen\u00addently, quickly and in a space-sav\u00ading man\u00adner by the per\u00adson being exam\u00adined. The num\u00adber of poten\u00adtially replace\u00adable eye test devices is around 85,000 units. A high will\u00ading\u00adness to invest on the part of users and unique prod\u00aduct fea\u00adtures ensure rapid mar\u00adket pen\u00ade\u00adtra\u00adtion. Once estab\u00adlished in DACH+, PERCEPTEC plans to expand into other Euro\u00adpean and inter\u00adna\u00adtional mar\u00adkets.
