At bm|t, we con\u00adtin\u00adu\u00adously search for founders and com\u00adpa\u00adnies shap\u00ading today and tomorrow\u2019s tech\u00adno\u00adlog\u00adi\u00adcal land\u00adscape. As 2025 closes and 2026 begins<\/strong>, we would like to take this oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to offer a ret\u00adro\u00adspec\u00adtive on a year defined by tran\u00adsi\u00adtion, exe\u00adcu\u00adtion, and tan\u00adgi\u00adble progress<\/strong> across Th\u00fcringen\u2019s inno\u00adva\u00adtion ecosystem.<\/p>\n

The year began with an impor\u00adtant new chap\u00adter for bm|t. In Jan\u00adu\u00adary, Katja Butz\u00admann assumed the role of CEO of bm|t.<\/strong> Hav\u00ading been part of bm|t since 2016, she brings strong expe\u00adri\u00adence as both a Senior Invest\u00adment Man\u00adager and a suc\u00adcess\u00adful CEO<\/strong>. Through\u00adout this year, Katja Butz\u00admann has guided the team through a period of change and suc\u00adcess \u2013 notably over\u00adsee\u00ading the land\u00admark exit of Spleen\u00adlab to Quan\u00adtum Systems.<\/p>\n

The sec\u00adond major mile\u00adstone fol\u00adlowed in the sum\u00admer with the launch of the Mit\u00adtel\u00adstands-Fonds Th\u00fcrin\u00adgen II (MFT II).<\/strong> Announced in July by Th\u00fcringen\u2019s Min\u00adis\u00adter for Eco\u00adnomic Affairs, Agri\u00adcul\u00adture and Rural Areas, Colette Boos-John, the fund will sup\u00adport estab\u00adlished, medium-sized Thuringian com\u00adpa\u00adnies to strengthen their equity base for fur\u00adther growth<\/strong>. The Mit\u00adtel\u00adstands-Fonds Th\u00fcrin\u00adgen II will be man\u00adaged by bm|t. \u201cThe fund for late-stage financ\u00ading will ini\u00adtially have a vol\u00adume of \u20ac 20 mil\u00adlion <\/strong>and com\u00adple\u00adments our exist\u00ading range of funds,\u201d sum\u00adma\u00adrized Katja Butzmann.<\/p>\n

2025 was a strong year for liq\u00aduid\u00adity events. In total, three port\u00adfo\u00adlio com\u00adpa\u00adnies exited<\/strong>, led by the head\u00adline-mak\u00ading acqui\u00adsi\u00adtion of Spleen\u00adlab by Ger\u00adman defence uni\u00adcorn Quan\u00adtum Sys\u00adtems<\/strong>. As noted by Quan\u00adtum Sys\u00adtems Co-CEO, Spleenlab\u2019s AI exper\u00adtise had shaped the Quan\u00adtum Sys\u00adtems for years through col\u00adlab\u00ado\u00adra\u00adtion, and the acqui\u00adsi\u00adtion brings world-class soft\u00adware and world-class hard\u00adware under one roof<\/strong>. Devel\u00adoped in Th\u00fcrin\u00adgen, Spleen\u00adlab exem\u00adpli\u00adfies the long-term value cre\u00adation that bm|t seeks to enable<\/strong>. Addi\u00adtional exits included Zeilen\u00adwert and Crow\u00addAr\u00adchi\u00adtects<\/strong>, fur\u00adther val\u00adi\u00addat\u00ading the depth and matu\u00adrity of the regional ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Deal flow remained strong through\u00adout the year. In 2025, seven new com\u00adpa\u00adnies joined the bm|t port\u00adfo\u00adlio<\/strong>, span\u00adning a wide-range of tech\u00adnolo\u00adgies and indus\u00adtries. This diver\u00adsity is a clear sig\u00adnal of the strength of Th\u00fcringen\u2019s start-up land\u00adscape<\/strong> and a tes\u00adta\u00adment to years of focused ecosys\u00adtem-build\u00ading.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As a com\u00admit\u00adted long-term part\u00adner, bm|t also sup\u00adported port\u00adfo\u00adlio com\u00adpa\u00adnies beyond the ini\u00adtial invest\u00adment. In addi\u00adtion to new entries, we par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpated in the fol\u00adlow-on financ\u00ading rounds of eigh\u00adteen of our Investee Part\u00adners<\/strong>. This reflects our con\u00advic\u00adtion that build\u00ading suc\u00adcess\u00adful com\u00adpa\u00adnies requires time, con\u00adsis\u00adtency, and trust.<\/p>\n

Despite a chal\u00adleng\u00ading macro\u00adeco\u00adnomic back\u00addrop, bm|t Investee Part\u00adners par\u00adtic\u00adi\u00adpated in a total of six\u00adteen financ\u00ading rounds of \u20ac 1 mil\u00adlion of mor<\/strong>e<\/strong> dur\u00ading the year. Alto\u00adgether, com\u00adpa\u00adnies within bm|t\u2019s port\u00adfo\u00adlio raised approx\u00adi\u00admately \u20ac 110 mil\u00adlion in 2025.<\/strong> Whether sup\u00adport\u00ading early-stage dis\u00adrup\u00adtors or scal\u00ading estab\u00adlished growth com\u00adpa\u00adnies, bm|t \u2013 together with our trusted part\u00adners \u2013 con\u00adtin\u00adues to play an active role in strength\u00aden\u00ading Th\u00fcringen\u2019s inno\u00adva\u00adtion<\/strong> economy.<\/p>\n

As we look ahead to 2026, we do so with con\u00adfi\u00addence grounded in exe\u00adcu\u00adtion, resilience, and an strong ecosys\u00adtem of ambi\u00adtious founders and inno\u00adv\u00ada\u00adtive com\u00adpa\u00adnies<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
