It’s a brilliant start to the new year for the Erfurt-based start-up CrowdArchitects: With the fan app “Call of Beauty”, the company stormed the App Store Charts to number 1 within a few hours. The name is derived from the regular video format of YouTuber Paola Maria, who, with her 1.5 million subscribers, is CrowdTV’s first “million YouTuber”.
On Thursday of this week, Paola Maria, the biggest YouTuber to date, launched an app from CrowdTV and triggered a veritable run on the app stores among the community. Within a few hours, the app recorded tens of thousands of downloads and reached number one in the iTunes download charts in the “Lifestyle” category on the very first day. The Call of Beauty app focuses on Paola Maria’s lifestyle format of the same name, in which she gives advice and insights into her beauty and fashion world. In addition to the regularly published videos from YouTube, her fans can also find exclusive content such as tips, snapshots and votes. Exchange information directly with each other in the community forum.
“We are overwhelmed by the success of the Call of Beauty app. This confirms our conviction that dedicated fan platforms for creators are very popular with fans,” says Hannes Mehring, Managing Director of CrowdArchitects.
Paola Maria is one of the most successful YouTubers in Germany in the beauty and fashion sector. On YouTube, over 1.5 million subscribers regularly follow her videos. On Instagram, she inspires 2.9 million fans with insights from her life and on Twitter she is followed by over 700,000 fans.
The Erfurt-based start-up CrowdArchitects launched CrowdTV, a white-label fan app for online creators, in summer 2016. The concept behind it is to provide social influencers from YouTube & Co. with their own platform for communication between them and fans. In this way, they are independent of externally controlled search algorithms, always close to their fans and will be able to use this platform to market digital content in the future. Almost 30 YouTube stars from Germany can now call their own CrowdTV app their own. CrowdTV was nominated for the Thuringian Innovation Award in the category “Digital & Media” in 2016.
