It’s a bril­liant start to the new year for the Erfurt-based start-up Crow­dAr­chi­tects: With the fan app “Call of Beauty”, the com­pany stormed the App Store Charts to num­ber 1 within a few hours. The name is derived from the reg­u­lar video for­mat of YouTu­ber Paola Maria, who, with her 1.5 mil­lion sub­scribers, is CrowdTV’s first “mil­lion YouTuber”.
On Thurs­day of this week, Paola Maria, the biggest YouTu­ber to date, launched an app from CrowdTV and trig­gered a ver­i­ta­ble run on the app stores among the com­mu­nity. Within a few hours, the app recorded tens of thou­sands of down­loads and reached num­ber one in the iTunes down­load charts in the “Lifestyle” cat­e­gory on the very first day. The Call of Beauty app focuses on Paola Maria’s lifestyle for­mat of the same name, in which she gives advice and insights into her beauty and fash­ion world. In addi­tion to the reg­u­larly pub­lished videos from YouTube, her fans can also find exclu­sive con­tent such as tips, snap­shots and votes. Exchange infor­ma­tion directly with each other in the com­mu­nity forum.
“We are over­whelmed by the suc­cess of the Call of Beauty app. This con­firms our con­vic­tion that ded­i­cated fan plat­forms for cre­ators are very pop­u­lar with fans,” says Hannes Mehring, Man­ag­ing Direc­tor of CrowdArchitects.
Paola Maria is one of the most suc­cess­ful YouTu­bers in Ger­many in the beauty and fash­ion sec­tor. On YouTube, over 1.5 mil­lion sub­scribers reg­u­larly fol­low her videos. On Insta­gram, she inspires 2.9 mil­lion fans with insights from her life and on Twit­ter she is fol­lowed by over 700,000 fans.
The Erfurt-based start-up Crow­dAr­chi­tects launched CrowdTV, a white-label fan app for online cre­ators, in sum­mer 2016. The con­cept behind it is to pro­vide social influ­encers from YouTube & Co. with their own plat­form for com­mu­ni­ca­tion between them and fans. In this way, they are inde­pen­dent of exter­nally con­trolled search algo­rithms, always close to their fans and will be able to use this plat­form to mar­ket dig­i­tal con­tent in the future. Almost 30 YouTube stars from Ger­many can now call their own CrowdTV app their own. CrowdTV was nom­i­nated for the Thuringian Inno­va­tion Award in the cat­e­gory “Dig­i­tal & Media” in 2016.
